On 21st August 2024, M.E.I. Consultants Sdn. Bhd. (MEI) had the privilege of hosting 50 engineering and architecture students organized by Professor Lim Pang Boey from Toyohashi University of Technology (TUT), Japan. The visit provided the students with valuable industry insights, exposing them to real-world applications of engineering and architecture in the construction field.
An Introduction to MEI and the Industry
The session began with a corporate introduction, where MEI’s representatives shared the company’s history, expertise, and ongoing projects. Students learned about MEI’s multidisciplinary approach in engineering and architectural consultancy, including contributions to structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering.
Following the introduction, an interactive session was held to explain the scope of work and responsibilities of engineers and architects in the construction industry. The discussion covered key aspects such as design processes, project management, regulatory compliance, and sustainability practices, providing the students with a deeper understanding of their future roles in the field.
Bridging Academia and Industry
The visit allowed students to engage with MEI’s professionals, ask questions, and gain practical knowledge beyond their textbooks. Through real-world case studies and examples, they saw how engineering and architecture come together to shape the built environment.
The session concluded with a Q&A and networking opportunity, fostering an exchange of ideas and cultural insights between Malaysian industry professionals and Japanese students.
